New meetup

We are launching Headr.com on the 16th of September in San Fransisco. For this we have invited some Dutch tech stars (will not spill the beans yet ;-)) and created a new meetup. Feel free to drop in and say hi.

Package from the airport

For the launch of Headr.com on the 16th we took a giant presentation wall with us. It was so heavy that we wheren't able to take it with us into the airplane and had to ship it to the US via DHL. Today me and Oliver went to the airport to pick it up. It will be so nice to have it standing in the park. :-)

We are getting ready

Last night we went the new tech meetup where we saw some interesting company's like MOOVEE.tv. Had a nice little chat with a bunch of entrepreneurs. This scene here is totally different then back home.

Hallo lieve allemaal,

Hier ons eerste berichtje uit een prachtig San Jose waar het heerlijk 32 graden en zonnig is. De reis is eigenlijk heel goed verlopen alhoewel het natuurlijk wel heel lang was voor de kindjes. In het vliegtuig waren de kinderen heel erg lief en eigenlijk vloog de tijd. Tegen het einde van de reis werd de gang naar het toilet wel een spelletje om in beweging te komen. "mama ik moet plassen". En daar gingen we weer. Na de overstap was de fut er na 17 uur reizen wel uit en toen zijn er wel wat traantjes gevloeid. Gelukkig hebben ze na de overstap allebei heerlijk een paar uur geslapen in het vliegtuig. De terroristische aanvallen waar je doorheen moet op de luchthaven (Houston) was echt niet normaal. Eindeloos wachten en 'bewakers' die dan blaffen tegen de kinderen omdat ze rondjes aan het rennen waren. Niet normaal. Ik werd helemaal gefoeieerd als een halve crimineel waar de kinderen bij stonden, heel intimiderend allemaal. Mensen worden de hele tijd alla 40-45 toegeschreeuwd, doorlopen, schoenen uit etc.
Maar goed op San Fran ging het heel snel allemaal. De schuttlebus stond klaar en binnen 15 minuten waren we onderweg. In de bus zat een man die meteen vroeg wat we deden. Hij bood ons aan te helpen, om ons voor te stellen aan een grote VC waar je alleen binnenkomt als je geintroduceerd wordt!! Goed begin! Later deze man gegoogled, blijkt zeer succesvolle ondernemer in de telefonie sattelieten. Eerste netwerkje is opgebouwd.

De eerste dag hebben we besteed aan heerlijk in de grote tuin ontbijten en keutelen. In de hangmat in de zon liggen! In de middag zijn we bij de Target groot inkopen gaan doen, speelgoed voor de kinderen, luiers, voeding, etc etc
Het huis is echt megalux en heel erg compleet. Helemaal ingericht voor kinderen met twee kinderkamers en bakken met speelgoed. En de tuin is echt een droom. Ik heb gisteren een moutainbike gehuurd zodat ik lekker kan gaan fietsen en de kilootjes kwijt kan raken. We hebben voor de jongens wat kleertjes gekocht en zijn gezellig uiteten gegaan. Vooral Sam heeft veel moeite met de jetlag en draait dag en nacht nu een beetje om. Dus veel slaap hebben we nog niet gehad. Oliver gaat matig, hij blijft heel lief in bed maar is wel steeds vanaf 4 uur wakker. Onze Flynn heeft helemaal geen jetlag lijkt het wel, die is meteen in zijn gewone ritme en heel gezellig. Oliver heeft nu helemaal zijn loopfiets ontdekt en wil er bijna niet meer af.
Vandaag is labourday en we gaan zo lekker ergens brunchen. Morgen heeft Ernst zijn eerste netwerk meeting, in San Francisco.

Yesterday we had a team event. After Carting, dining some of us (:-)) ended up watching Harry Potter in the movie theater. Being still full of it, we tried to look for some spoilers about the last installment. And look here they are:

Harry doesn’t die
Snape dies on page 658, his last words are “Look…at…me…”
Dobby dies on page 476, his last words are “Harry…Potter…”
Moody dies sometime before page 78, you hear of his death from Bill and Fleur
Collin Creevy dies sometime before page 694, Harry finds Neville is carrying his dead body

Snape was Dumbledore’s spy all along. Dumbledore plotted his own death so that the power of the Elder Wand would die with him rather than be transferred to his victor. He failed though and the power is transferred to Draco, then to Harry (of course).

Harry Marries Ginny and has three kids named Lily, Albus Sirius, and James
Ron Marries Hermione and has two kids, Hugo and Rose

What are we up to now?

So just a quick update on what we have been doing and why:

On the June 1st the is this great conference called "the next web" organized by the Fleck guys. On of the things you can do on the next web is visit 20 new cool company's. These 20 companies are selected from a list of 40 some by big bang ventures. (HI).

So what are the new features we are rolling out prior to this event? Andy's is working her but of the improve the user experience for our mobile client. (see the old beta below)

Matthijs is setting the us data live (testing it as we speak). From next week all we say HI to the us.

Mischa, is working extremely long hours to get the last bugs out of IM code. (so everyone can enjoy web-based-single-sign-in messenger with presence and friend tracker)

Ruud perfecting his code so people can find their taste twins across different social networks, starting with Hyves.

Arcadie, has laid down the map to user generated content (jieks). People will be able to add pictures and change business info, for every object. We will provide some statistics about each user and the ability to compliment each other (coz we all want compliments right?)

Vladimir, has perfected the user experience for EI6 (it sucks now we now) But his greatest feat is slicing a wooping 50 percent of our javascript files.
